"I'm a firm believer in the saying "One hand for rescue, one hand for me." During
water rescue ops, one should keep a knife immediately accessible. Consider your
knife as a self-rescue tool. Cutting free of entanglement may be your only means of
emergency escape.

PS: I have been informed of at least one occasion where a rescuer's life was saved
by this style of one-hand-opening knife."
